    Lack of audio in certain xvid video files.

    I have a couple of files encoded using xvid. They use the AC3 codec which I have installed as reported by gspot. When I try to render the audio for testing in gspot I come across this error:

    (src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter}>--(B)-->[CyberLink Audio Decodeer ]>--(c)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

    Failed to connect Output pin 0x00d09ffc ("Stream 01") on AVI Splitter to input pin 0x00d298ac ("Audio In") on filter 0x020c5094 ("CyberLink Audio Decoder").ConnectDirect()

    (src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter}>--(B)-->[Nero Digital Audio Decoder Audio Decodeer ]>--(c)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

    Failed to connect Output pin 0x00d0accc ("Stream 01") on AVI Splitter to input pin 0x0088f3bc ("Digital Audio In") on filter 0x020cd31c ("Nero Digital Audio Decoder").ConnectDirect() filed. Error 0x80040207: There is no common media type between these pins.

    When played in windows media player it tries to download a codec but fails. Any idea of how I can fix this error ?

    Try playing the file with a software DVD player, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD...

      there is no sound when played with powerDVD either.

      Edit:

      I have fixed the problem by downloading the AC3 filter and installing it again on my system (didnt remove the old one's)

        Congratulations on resolving your dilemma (although I can't understand why PowerDVD, with its own .AC3 filter, played the file without audio)...
