my playback skips then loses sound

I use WMP version 10 for playback with divx 5 codec installed. all backups of dvd's have played fine. I recently found one of my dvd's was multi angled I removed the unwanted sections using a walkthrough I found on this site everything worked fine however about halfway through playing the divx file it kind of jumps and then loses it's sound. the sound by the way is ac3. the strange thing is if I skip half a second ahead the sound returns like normal if I do not it will not return. strange I have never seen this behavior before. it does happen if i play that same section of the file back so it's not random there is some kind of glitch in that section of the divx file. does anyond know what would cause this or how I would go about fixing it? I guess i could redo the whole thing however removing the undesired angles is a chore so I was hoping someone would have another idea as redoing the encoding might not even work. thanks

    1) Load the .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise) into VirtualDubMod

    2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"

    3) Select "Check for errors"

    4) Select "Mask bad frames"

    5) Save with a new filename

That was a good sugestion I'm running VirtualDubMod version 1.5.10.1 I did the scan and it didn't seem to find any bad sections or frames because the mask bad frames selection was still greyed out even after it finished the scan. Is there anything else I might try?
