Slow choppy Dig 8 playback

Playback of dig 8 tapes, Sony Handycam is slow and choppy, tried several different tapes, all the same. Any ideas of problem?

If you're talking about actually playing back your tape ON YOUR CAMCORDER, maybe the batteries are low... (But this is not the forum for such questions)
