    Gold Discs

    Using an OEM Pioneer (Region Free) PC DVD drive - I can not play DVD's manufactured using gold dye (drive just spits them out) all other discs play fine - Any one got any ideas?

    i dont know if you are here, but they are possibly dual layer discs and cannot be playedby your dvd-rom drive. check your specifications of your drive

      Agreed. If it's gold that means it has dual layers. Professionally manufactured DVD's or CD's don't use dye. They use actual pressed metals. The dual layered discs are gold because of the semi-transparent top layer that's used to hold more info. Your player may not play these discs. Although I don't know why it wouldn't because even first generation DVD players played them.
