    Quicktime audio --> WAV/MP3 conversion

    Hello all,
    I need help (ie: software recommendations and general instructions) on how to go about converting a Quicktime (v5, I think) audio track into WAV PCM; later to be encoded as an MP3.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you have QuickTime Pro just open the file, and export Sound to Wave. Pretty simple...

      Thanks but I figured/tried that. I can ony export to "another quicktime movie".

      Am I missing something -- that there is no "WAV export" option??

        When you open the move go to the export item under the file menu. At the bottom of the file save dialog, there's an "export" pop-up menu, from that select "Sound to Wave".

        Hope that helps...

          yes, as I stated in my last reply - I tried that. The only options under the "export" menu are "movie" and "movie, self-contained".

            Click on the "Options" radio button to the right of the Export choices - You'll see options for the video stream and below that, options for the audio stream...

              The "Options" button is greyed out for both menu-items: "movie" an d"movie, self-contained".

                I'm going to guess that you don't have Quicktime Pro - which is the commercial version. If that's the case, I'm afraid you're out of luck about the "normal" way to do this.

                If you already have a SEPARATE audio track, you might be able to convert it using GoldWave or CoolEdit...

                  I MUST have Quicktime Pro -- I can SAVE QT movies and all. I have version 5.0.2

                    It's really quite simple, either you bought Quicktime Pro from Apple, or you don't have the Pro version - unless, of course, you've obtained a warez version, in which case, perhaps "you got what you paid for"...
