I used Sony Vegas to convert a 3ivx movie to mpeg2 so I could use it to burn a dvd. I exported it as an anamorphic video for playback on 16:9 displays (though I think I should have set it to 2.21:1 display).
This worked fine, but the problem is it came out with the video fitting wertically to the output, but on the left and right sides of the fram there are black bars, meaning the picture doesn't fit to the fram horizontally.
This is obviously a bit of a problem, so I'm wondering:
a) Is this because the source video was closer to 2.21:1 aspect ratio but the exported file was set for 16:9 aspect ratio? Would the disparity between the two aspect ratios have effected the outputted file?
b) Is it possible to crop this AND convert the 16:9 aspect ratio to 2.21:1 so that the image looks correct when I watch it?
