VOB into PowerPoint?

I want to import short clips of video recorded from TV (on my Sony HX900 hard drive/DVD recorder) into Powerpoint presentations, but Powerpoint 2003 doesn't recognise the VOB file.

Does anyone know how I can convert the recorded VOB file into something Powerpoint will recognise?

Someone suggested simply changing the label to .ppt but that didn't work!

Sorry - I'm a complete novice at this DVD stuff!!

converter vob file to asf,avi,mpeg,wmv using xilisoft video converter, these formats can be recognise with ppt.
