    Xvid movie in parts

I've got a movie in 47 parts, named movie.xvid.001 through movie.xvid.047. What am I supposed to do with them?

Windows Media Player doesn't recognize the first file.

G-Spot tells me that same file has a corrupt header. As far as I can tell, the header contains a file length equal to all 47 files together. That indicates to me that these files need to be joined.

The one video joining program I tried found no video files in the folder where these 47 files are stored.

What do I need to do?

    Thanks very much.

"What am I supposed to do with them?"

Go to the site (I presume) from where you downloaded them. I'm sure there will instructions available...

            Try WinAce and/or WinRAR.

            Cheers!

Neither recognized the first file (.001) as an archive.

Failing those, I will second the suggestion that you find (any sort of) instructions from the website where you downloaded these files.

                Regards.

You've now indicated that you went to the site from which you downloaded a movie (in 47 parts) to seek instructions...

I'd suggest you read the rules of these forums, as discussion of anything to do with such activity is a violation of these rules...

                      People, People!

I appreciate the desire to preserve the integrity of this forum, but there's also a responsibility not to pounce without pausing to think first.

My post - "No instructions" - made no mention of a Web site or of downloading. Setarip was the one who made such a reference. Since the source of the movie wasn't germane to his advice, there was no need to point out what happens when you ASS-U-ME.

A suggestion was made that instructions might be available, and I responded that there were none. Period.

Now, if the witch hunt is over, can we get back to concentrating on trying to solve my problem?

                      Thanks!

                        As Martha Stewart would say (before she went to prison), "That's a good thing ;>}

No "witch hunt" - simply the fervent desire, as you so properly put it, to preserve the integrity of these forums.

You can PROBABLY re-join these files by using (freeware) "HJSPLIT.EXE", which should be available at

                          Eureka!

                          That worked.

The reason I referred to it as a "witch hunt" is because I felt that "the desire to preserve the integrity of this forum" manifested itself overzealously, without being counterbalanced by the necesary circumspection. I hope you'll keep it in mind before jumping on the next undeserving person.

I'd like to express my thanks to you, jmet and Enchanter, for your efforts to help me, and to you, setarip, in particular, for providing the solution.

                          Take care!

Now that all is said and done, what is the title of the movie?

                            Naah - Zealously, perhaps...
