any changes you made that prompted this? post a screenshot of the file information. i'd uninstall all codecpacks and start with only the ones you need."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

Maybe a system restore could help.

"all of a sudden half of my mpeg movies are showing incorrect time and only playing that long"
1) Try using a different player. If they play properly in a different player, UNinstall and then Reinstall the problematic player
2) If they play improperly in any and all players, try loading one into "TMPGEnc" (see the following procedure) and save with a new filename:
TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut
3) What is you O/S?Comment

Same problem here...
A few days ago I began to have the same problem and it only seems to happen with mpg files that I download. I tried playing the clips in Windows Media Player and RealPlayer and got the same problem. The clip length is way shorter than it should be and scrolling between the clip is messed up.
I then downloaded VLC Media Player, which comes with its' own codecs and it is able to play the movie fine, but unfortunately, what I'm looking to do is split the files and the splitting program has the exact same problem as everything else (other than VLC).
Lastly, I tried a system restore and something strange happened.. The instant one of these clips opened, it put the correct time for about a second and then went right back to the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Comment

Ok, I have found some answers.. I tries the TMPGEnc program that was suggested and while the proposed method didn't work, I was able to get the video working well by doing a de-multiplex and splitting the video and audio, and then doing a multiplex to merge them together again. So it's obvious that the problem has something to do with audio/video timing, but how can I fix it without going through this process with each file? It must be something simple because they all worked fine before and all at once this began to happen.Comment
