    Mpeg error when playing back

After encoding an avi file to mpeg2 with Mainconcept Mpeg Encoder or TmpgEnc Plus I can't play it in Windows Media Player (it shows an error message saying: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error - Abnormal program termination).

Power Vcr II says the same error if I capture directly to mpeg2 and closes the program. It doesn't save anything.

What can be wrong? The mpeg2 video codec?

d/l Gspot or avicodec (both free) and open the file/s in it. Either one will tell you if the required codec/s are installed on your pc. The newest version of Gspot will also render the video and play it for you.

"it shows an error message saying: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error - Abnormal program termination"

This usually is indicative of a corrupted support ".dll" file...

        How can I fix this?

Is it possible fix it reinstalling the video codec?

There is no error if I do it in mpeg1. So I think I need to reinstall the mpeg2 codec. But I don't know how. Can you or someone help me?

          Reinstalling the video codec

Now I know how to reinstall the codec.

I seek and found a mpeg-2 video codec installer at:

After installed it solved the error.

          Thanks
