I haven't tried encoding in Sound Forge in a long time, but I recently tried reencoding an mp3 I edited and I pick Wave (Microsoft) (*.wav) and pick Lame MP3 in the custom menu. I set the attributes to 44100 Hz, 160 kbps CBR, Stereo. When I click save it says "An error has occurred while saving one or more files. An error has occurred while opening a codec." It says this every time no matter what I set the codec settings to or what kind of wav or mp3 I try to save. Any clue as to what the problem could be?
LAME codec not encoding??

"An error has occurred while opening a codec.""
did you try uninstalling and re-installing the codecComment

To the best of my ability, yeah. I routinely upgrade the LAME codec thou from www.free-codecs.com It installs via an .inf, so I don't know how to uninstall this. It's so hard to track down these kinds of problems, because it could be a conflict between other codecs, as well. But first, knowing how to specifically uninstall and reinstall the mp3 encoding codecs would be great. Let me know of any information you'd need to give me some kind of step by step process.

I know the Add/Remove Programs area. It's definitely not listed at all. An install from an inf file doesn't always put an uninstallation in there, as is with this case.if you downloaded the latest Lame Encoder from free-codecs.com you'd probably see the same thing too. I'd really need to know the individual files and registry entries to uninstall and reinstall it.Comment
