    GSpot reports Codec Misconfigured?

    Hi Guys,

I have a DivX movie which plays fine in Media Player but can't be read in TMPGEnc. I ran GSpot and is says that the Codec is Misconfigured (screenshots attached). I have installed the latest version of ffdshow as the sticky post said but still no luck? Any ideas as to what to try next - I would like to convert it to a DVD.

    Thanks

    Mr E

i have learned to not always trust what gspot says about video codec configuration.

what exactly is the error in tmpgenc?

have you tried to raise the "directshow multimedia file reader"?

The error was that the type of file was not supprted but I upped the priority of the "directshow multimedia file reader" and hey presto it works

A quick question also, is tmpgenc the best option to convert to an MPEG-2? I have WinAvi video convertor which seems OK but is very quick (which to me implies something has to give!).

Thanks very much for your help - thats sorted it

I started the conversion off this morning using Tmpgenc last and it looks like it will take ages on my poor old pc but the quality should be good.

Won't be using WinAvi then - I thought it was a bit dodgy that it could convert to DVD very fast.

One last question, I have Tmpgenc plus 2.5 - There seems to be version 3 and 3 xpress etc. Are these better or just different?

            Thanks for the help guys
