Hi.
I downloaded 60 GB XVid videos from a sites network. All legal.
So at first I installed the latest version of XVid codec : 1.0.3 - 20122004 by Koepy.
I watched some videos and they were corrupted by a miscellaneus of colors, then ok,then corrupted, then ok,..... every 2,3 seconds.
Then I looked at the FAQ of the sites network : they suggested to install the
04102002-1 Xvid codec. The videos were ok.
Later onother site of the network requires a newly Xvid codec and guarantied the compatibility with the previous. The Xvid codec was : 1.0.2 - 29082004.
But with this codec I saw 80% videos Ok and 20% corrupted by a miscellaneous of colors, then Ok, then corrupted, ... every 2,3 seconds.
And curiously videos that with 04102002-1 codec were OK, with 1.0.2 - 29082004 were BAD !
The question is : does it exist one version of XVid codec which keep the compatibility with it's previous version ? I think NO.
I use Divx. I installed the latest version and I didn't have any problem !
The behauvier of XVid is the same even with the Divx codec uninstalled and GSpot says it is used the XVid right codec.
Someone can solve the XVid compatibility mistery ?
Thanks in advance
for the answer,
Fabrizio
