Problems with stuttering sounds

Ok, so I upgraded my machine a couple of months ago. Since doing that I've been having problems with all video playback from the hard-drive, the sound stutters. I've tried to update drivers and all that but still the stuttering continues.

Does anyone have any idea of what is going on, and does anyone have any suggestions or idea to what can be done to fix this?

Direct X 9c installed? Audio codecs installed? What software player you using?

direct x 9c installed, audio codecs too(at least enough to get actual sound.

The stuttering only happens every 15-30sec, then goes on for all between 2-15sec. Pausing the playback and then de-pausing it again after a sec or so stops the stutter, until it starts again 15-30sec later.

I've been experiencing the problem with power-dvd, windows media player, quicktime. In short, I have not had it not stutter so far.

I'll take a look at the media player you have suggested.

ps: I've been wondering if this is some sort of memory problem, but I've got plenty of ram and such?

does it happen with all videos? does it happen when playing music?
