forget about dvd shrink it is not for converting avi's.

this is the method i use for those types of files.

    1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI/MPG/wmv etc. to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

    2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

    what is DVD?
DVD stands for Digital Versatile/Video Disc, DVDR stands for DVD Recordable and DVDRW for DVD ReWriteable.

many other newbie avi to dvd guides
These guides describes how to convert a video to DVD, VCD, SVCD, CVD or AVI,DivX,Xvid, ASF and more.

are you saying one avi is to big to be copied to a dvd or the combined avi's to big to fit on one dvd ?

Don you have Easy CD Creator. That have a DVD Creator utility and if your DVD needs more than one disk the program will ask you for the NEXT disk to insert when first is done.

At least, TMPGenc allows you to cut your avi into a two or more files if you need (See the source range at TMPGenc) saving each one with a name that you assing.

                Sorry about my english
