Help Joining subtitles and AVI files

First let me describe what I need to do: I have a huge amount of avi files that need to have text overlays(or subtitles) to describe what is being shown in the video. Each week I have to create 300+ files, so making the subtitle by hand is not an option. Is there a program or process that can burn text files to the Avi Files? (Hopefully with a Batch List) If not is there a way to have DVD Architect Create an AVi file Rather than just a DVD?
Any Help on this would be great, I just can't figure out how to do this

to only view the subtitles on pc, download & install 'vobsub' and make sure your video file and subtitle (likely an 'srt') file has the same name. then play. this is definitely the fastest and easiest way, no re-encoding is needed.

to permanently add subtitles to the movie (which involves re-encoding, and thus takes much longer), see here http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=272736 or here http://www.videohelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm

Thanks for your input, but this will not work for me. It will take too long to convert all my text files to srt. and then jion them one by one. If there was some type of batch list it might work.
