download & install the latest 'ffdshow' from http://www.free-codecs.com

i also recommend you use 'media player classic' to play your files. it can also be downloaded from the same site

i was going to suggest this earlier, but wanted to see the outcome of ffdshow. i have problems with it too. for xvid's try this (uninstall ffdshow first):

is it just ONE file that you cannot play? can you play other xvid files?

if so, its likely there is a problem with the file-- it could be fake...

We built some vid ad beta computers a while back, objective to play ads
composed of every imaginable file type, 7/24 unattended, every week or month change playlist. My task make it work.
klite mega codecpack, it took me an hour to solve the power reset problem,
              won a 100$ bet.

look for the .exe file, double click it and install it.

All you have to do is go to the official XviD site at http://www.xvid.org/ and download it (here is a link): http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/....1.0-beta2.zip and then just run the EXE file. Windows Media Player should then be able to play them.

You can use Gspot or Avicodec (both free) to load the file in question and it will tell you if you what codec/s are needed to play the file and if the codec/s are installed on your system.

Edit: go to the url that "anonymez" stated for the executable file.
