    Help!!!!

    Hi all,

    I need help >.< *I am a computer idiot*
Hopefully i get myself inside the right section.
I have previously install the AngelPotion Codec as I thought it might be the missing codec for the vidz that i cant play.

However, when I have installed the codec, i cant play any clips at all.
Whenever i want to play a vidz, the whole pc will hang -.-|||
I have tried all kinda player like WMP, BSplayer, Classic WMP, Realplayer, Quicktime.non of them work. Not long, i discovered that I cant even play games like maple, gunbound...etc it give a black screen and then it hang =(

I have tried scanning for virus but non was detected.Hence, I format my pc.However, that does not solve the problem, I cant play any clips and games, it will hang.

P/s: Sometimes if am lucky enough, vidz can be played but that happen only once in a blue moon.

    Thanks alot for your help^^

did you install 'angelpotion' codec/any codec packs after you formatted? it sounds like a graphics card problem.

what are your pc's specs? (what cpu, ram, graphics card, etc) have you got your latest graphics card drivers? have you got the latest directx?

try downloading & installing 'ffdshow' from http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/ffdshow and playing your files

i recommend you use 'media player classic' to play your files

      Hi,
      Thanks for your fast reply.

      Nope.
I did not install the AngelPotion codec again after i formatted.

I am sorry, but how do i go about checking my specs?
      Mine is:
      Window XP SP 1
      Intel Pentium Processor 997 MHz
      512MB SD Ram
Graphic Card: Inno3D GeForce FX 5200
      DirectX9C

I have install the ffdshow and played the vidz using classic WMP, but ti still hang as usual.
I tried several games and the result is the same.

do you have access to another graphics card? try to borrow one, install in your system and see if videos work...

            good luck!

also when you say that PC games 'hang', do you mean the program closes with an error message, or the PC freezes, or it reboots automatically?

an odd fix, since you didn't have sp2 installed previously

but glad it all worked out

before i formatted, my pc was sp2 but after i formatted, i did not go and install it.

however, like what you said, odd fix.
but my bro's friend have the same problem and after the installation of sp2, it just went back to normal O.O

i see, i'm thinking the updated video drivers, in conjunction with directx9c didn't like working with SP1, you should always keep your PC updated!
