Video capture card captures are out of sync!

Hey guys, i was hoping someone could help me on this video capture problem.

I bought a Spirit PC TV Tuner to capture video tapes into .avi format. I used the software provided in the box (PCI TV Tuner software) but the resulting .avi files are very choppy. So I tried using Dr. DivX to do the live capture. This almost worked, except the .avi file is out of sync. The audio is a couple seconds out of sync with the video. I spent hours and hours trying to find a solution, without success. Should I use a different software, perhaps?

    thanks~

mine will do that if cpu % goes over 70 or so, so i don't have anything else going on while capturing. no heavy cpu usage going on? it should mention something of this nature right in the instructions/help file.

My PC... The Audio is onboard Nvidia Soundstorm utilizing The Realtek Codec 658 (My Mobo ABIT AN7 Bios 1.9)

The TV Capture card is a Leadtek PVR2000

The Video card is a Leadtek A340 TD 256MB

utada_exodus, it sounds like you're having the probelm almost everyone has when capturing with non-hardware encoding tv tunars, and thats framedrops. Use the latest version of Virtual Dub to capture and do it first to a lossless processor-light codec like Huffyuv, Lagarinth or MJPEG. Then after you've captured your video, re-encode to the format desired like Xvid. There's commerical software avaliable like WinDVR that can capture straight to MPEG1/MPEG2, but with that you're still running the risk of framedrops if you don't have a fast computer.

If you're planning to convert lots of things, you might want to consider buying a capture card with a hardware encoder like the ATI Theater or WinTV PVR series.

Had that problem with the ads box. changed to wintv pvr by haughpaugh.
Some cards do not work with some chipsets either. i had the VIA chipset and everything was out of sync until i updated the VIA chipset. Id say change you pvr card because your probably not going to find software that is reliable.
