Wish to capture video images as still pictures?

    Hi all,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
    <o></o>
I have some video footage downloaded on my PC from my camcorder. I wanted to capture some of the images as still pictures...maybe in bitmap format or as a JPEG file. Is anyone aware of any software that can do this? My movie images are currently in windows media player format.<o></o>
    <o></o>
    I would appreciate your thoughts.<o></o>
    <o></o>
    Many thanks<o></o>

virtualdubmod, free, won't cost you a dime, makes stills in seconds.

load file, under video, "snapshot source frame" save as bmp. (use slider/buttons on interface to navigate to choice frames)

Yes, that is an easy way. U can also try the method used to take screenshots.Open ur video in WMP.Move ur slider to the part whose pic u need to take. Now press PrtSc button on ur computer(in mine it is just beside F12).Now open MS Paint.Click Edit/Paste.U have ur picture.U can then save it in whatever format u like.

pagmalon, capturing in wmp is not recommended, as the video is blown up to a larger res than the original, which involves very poor resizing when compared to image editing applications. in other words, it will result in much lower quality to simply use 'printscreen'.

its best to capture at the original res, then work from there. that will result in the highest possible quality.

the best way to capture frames are, as LT mentioned, either in virtualdub, or a good player, such as 'media player classic'. they both save as (lossless)bmp
