Skipping in video causes audio problems

Just recently i installed the divx codec and whenever i watch videos now and i skip around, the audio will go out of sync with the video. So by the middle of the video the audio is already done playing. Has this happened to anyone and what did you do to fix it.

    Thanks

this just happened after the divx codec install? if you are playing avi's, it's easy for them to go out of sync like that while playing, mine do too. after a minute or so it should stablize. i suggest you use media player classic for this purpose also.

are you sure its not an issue with the files themselves? could be that divx is decoding and your PC can't keep up. try downloading & installing the latest 'ffdshow', and as LT said, play with media player classic...

well the videos actually worked before i installed any codecs on my computer. It's just those streaming files from sites like www.dumpalink.com, it goes out of sync, but the audio skips forward like a minute or so so while it's still the same video rate. I hope ya'll understand what im trying to mean. It actually doesn't do it to videos that i have on my computer. And i do have ffdshow but i'll try downloading media play classic to see if that changes anything.

        Thanks
