Really need help bad (blaze media pro)

guys, ive got this movie, its about 670mb, and its an avi file.
but i want to put it onto a vcd, and when i do nero, oviously encoding it into the right format, will make the file size bigger eg to somthing like 1.1 gb.
so im trying to split the avi file into 2 bits.
my problem is simple.
i have used blaze media pro to split the movie into 2 equal parts.
but when im trying to save it, i dont know what the compression settings i need to set it to.
eg: which video and audio codec should i choose.
i would like it to have the same settings as the orignal movie, which is pretty nice quality, and has good sound.
is there anyway, i can check the audio and video codecs for my orignal movie, so i know what audio and video codecs to use to save the splitted files??

I would use virtual Dub

1. Open the AVI by going File => open video file navigate to the video and open. (I have loaded a copy of Lost season 1 episode 24)



2. My video has 122370 frames as seen on the slide bar. So I want to cut it in half. I go to frame 60000 and look for a good split point. I found a good one at 64690 as this is when the screen blacked for a commercial. Then I pust that little arrow I outlined in red.



3. This will select then end of the first video, now go to file => save as avi select where and save it. Now you have the first half you need the second half. So without moving the slide bar click the other arrow (blue) then navigate to the end and press the red arrow. now again file => save as avi this is the second half of the avi.

You need to download the xvid codec

Im sure i already installed it, as it came with a program called
'xp codec pack 1.24'
so do i need to install it again?

not sure what comes in that codec pack, but that error message is saying you don't have the xvid codec. So I would install it.
