Problem playing back divx w/ Windows Audio V2 codec

I friend of mine encoded one of his dvds with the latest divx codec but with the windows V2 audio codec. The video works fine but there is no sound. How can we solve this problem without reencoding the whole video? Thanks

ye I allready have done ...same problem in windows media player (v10). Tryed in every player imaginable.

Because it is a windows codec it should be installed with the os right? Its not a problem with me not having the codec on my computer?

yes, it should be installed with the OS

download 'virtualdubmod', open the avi file with it. under 'file' click 'file information', and post all info shown.

could be that wma doesn't like the avi container. try this:

open the file in virtualdubmod, under 'streams' click 'stream list'. click 'demux', and save somewhere on your hard disk. try playing that new file in wmp
