Is there a way to make WMP10 (or 9) to play xvid AND .srt subtitles?
I have a movie_xvid.avi and subtitles.srt in the same directory. What else do I need?
What possible plugins are needed (in XP sp2) and are there some tricks that need to be done before this works?
In WMP I have tried turning "captions and subtitles" to "on if available". The video plays well but no subtitles. I have tried VOBsub 2.37 as someone suggested but with that installed, the playback dies also. (Screen is totally black as long as VSFilter.dll is active)
If anyone wants to tryfor themselve they can download this http://www-fi3.starwreck.com/download.php high quality movie (direct download) with no subtitles and the DivX codec from the same site and then from the same page (below) the english subtitles as a separate SRT file.
For some reason I cannot get the subtitles to play in WIN XP PRO SP2 media player 10 ( or WMP9 either)?
I would appreciate detailed instructions if someone more knowledgeable can get this to work.
(A readily subtitled version or some other smarter player than M$ are not an option for me because this is a reference setup that needs to get tested with these and these alone)
At this point all suggestions are welcome.
