Music High Audio Low In Avi In Mpc

When I play Avi through Media Player Classic the supposedly background music is way up there and the speech audio is hardly there.I tried uninstalling & reinstalling the following ffdShow,QT alternative c/w MPC & AC3 filters to no avail. One thing I did notice is that while ffdshow video decoder shows up the audio decoder does not.

    hi soup,

what kind of audio is it? mp3? ac3? to let ffdshow/other decoders play ac3 audio, go into options-->filters, and disable filters

After further tweaking here's where we stand.Avi audio will play through home theatre no problem but through PC speakers same problem as above after setting ac3.Mp3 will play through both no problem. This is after again uninstalling & reinstalling just about everything. If there are no further ideas that is OK because I now know for sure there is nothing wrong with the files & they still play through something. Thanks for the assist anonymez.

your pc speakers are stereo, right?

just tell mpc, or whatever decodes your ac3 audio, to downmix to stereo. also make sure you set stereo sound in your audio drivers/windows

I just thought I would post back and say everything is fine.Because of being able to connect to my home theatre system my configuration was set up for more than 2 speakers.I changed it back to stereo but it might also be that I went into my control panel and made sure the volume was up on sounds & audio devices.Thank you.
