Sound, no pic.... Different one!

Hi all.
I have sort of a problem.. A couple of months ago I captured a movie in th microsoft mpeg4 vki ver 3 codec. Now when I was trying to playback some months later, I just got a grey screen.. I began to think about it, and found ot that the only changes I've made to my computer in that area would be installing the divx5 codec. Seems like this have messed up the way windows chooses which codec to playback with. I tried to reinstall the microsoft codecs, but it didn't work. I also tried to reinstall the divx5 codecs (when I think about it, what good would that do if it was that installation that messed up my computer in the first place? Anyway..) but to no success. Oh, by the way, I'm on a pIII450 with 310mb and XP Pro.
Any thoughts welcome..

Did you first UNINSTALL the DivX v.5.xx codec and then try reinstalling the mpeg4 vki ver 3 codec?

Yes I did.. Still only a grey screen.. Strange thing it works in Virtualdub though..
