AVI - no sound

When trying to play an .avi file in wmp it plays the video but with no sound. In Kazaa it says its using codec div4. Can anyone help me find the right codec, filter or sumthing??

Try installing 3.11a, followed by 4.12 (Telling it not to play back 3.11 contents).

In order to determine which codec you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

1) Load the file into VirtualDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

If you are unable to do the above then, from within Explorer, rightclick on the file and click on "Properties". Select the "Details" tab. Although it won't provide as much information, post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box.
