    sub workshop fckd my movie

well,i have this 2h movie,i joined it using virtual dub, then i wanted to join subs as well so i can create a dvd video.i opened subtitle workshop and opened the subtitles i need to join and nothing would happen, then i did it again, but this time i renamed subs exactly as the name of the movie file and checked recalculate time or similar, then the subs were successfully joined, and the video panel opened as well, but i couldnt play the video,i tried in wmp,in bs player,as it had no time - duration, where ever i click to rewind it to or fowar it to the point, all i get is black screen(offcourse titles show up)and i cant even play it,i click play and it just stands there, like nothing happened!

the funny thing is that it can be opened in virtualdubmod, maybe its not a problem with a file?

To join the subs you should still have part1 of the avi so that the timming of the second sub file can be calculated. Other than getting the length of the avi, it shouldn't touch it.

Can't see how you could use the hole movie to adjust the timing. You need the first part since the subtitle timmings of the 2nd part become current time + runtime of first part.

No way I can think of that doesn't involve basically manually syncing. You could take the end of the last sub of the first part, but who knows how long the video played after that? Best way would I guess be to resplit. Since both parts were probably ~700MB's and you can only cut on keyframes, you probably don't have much choice other than to cut where it was originally cut.

i tried the resulted subtitle, somehow,i was as usually doing things i dont understand in virtualdub, and somehow today i saw i had another video file i remember creating with virtual dub,and remember getting an error, but anyways i managed to create another file that was the same as the one that didnt work...but that one did!dont ask me how,i was fooling around with full processing modes and saving avi functions...i tried subs, and it seems that they are a bit ahead of sound, but that shouldnt be problem to fix...
