    audio compression problem

Hi I downloaded Oceans Eleven and the audio doesn't play. The information I got from vdub is :

    sampling rate 48000Hz
    Channels 5
    Sample precision 0-bit
    Compression Unknown (tag 2000)
    Preload skew 24000 samples (0.50s)
    # frames 88938
    Min/avg/max/ 23/2002/24000 (173899K)
    total frame size

and when I try to play it on vdub I get the message
"ACM failed to suggest audio de compression format"

    What do I do?

You need to have an AC3 codec installed. Any codec packs, like Nimo or Tsunami, will have it. Alternatively, you may want to have a software DVD player installed.

Hi, I know what you are going through, I've got the same shit going on. I've downed the Nime apck and the Tsunami filter pack but I still get great video and no sound! Do you know anything else that will work Enchanter?

What player do you use (WMP 6.4 is recommended)

        and
you could try seperatley installing the AC3 codec by conducting a search on google.com

          I found out something interresting

We're talking about Ocean's Eleven right? CD 1 doesn't have sound... CD 2 does!!! That's funny isn't it. I'm using WMP 6.4 and just installed the AC3 filters. No changes there! Could it be that CD 1 has no sound at all??? Wrongly ripped or so? I've checked with VirtualDub what the possible changes between them two are and found out that CD 1 has half the frames CD 2 does in the audio. Does that make a difference?

              NO!

NO! CD 1 is 700MB and CD 2 is 701 MB. Strange isn't it!

                You could try this:

What divx codec do you use? If you have divx 5.0 or 5.01 uninstall them and revert to divx 3.11 alpha.

If that doesn't fix the problem: back up the file and then use Virtualdub or Divfix to scan and fix possible errors.

                  It worked!!!

I've tried DivFix 1.06 and rebuild the index and... IT WORKS!

Thank you so much! If I ever can return a favor, mail me and I'll try my best for you!

p.s. How stupid could I be not to even try this before!

I'm glad I could help you...You seem pretty happy I'm surprised I even though of divxfix, just purely a coincedence. Sometimes the obvious alludes us all.
