Trying to Play AVI but their is not Visual

I have downloaded some avi files and when I try to play them, I can hear the audio but it does not show the video. I have tried it in mircosoft player as well as a divx player as well. Neither of them work. Can someone tell me what I need to do to be able to see the avi files.

This happened to me when I downloaded some TV rips encoded in XviD. What codec do these files use?

i'll take a not-so-wild stab in the dark here and say download & install ffdshow, then play.


alternativley, just use VLC
