    DivX no longer works?

This started happening right after installing AutoGK. I uninstalled and reinstalled the DivX codec, AutoGK, nothing works. Every single file I try to encode in VDub or VDubMod with DivX gives me this error.

    What got messed up here?

    guessing you installed divx 6.2?

what files are you trying to encode?

For one, a video I made in Ulead. I saved it as uncompressed because I don't trust UVS with compression. But I also tried to encode a DVD and it did the same thing.

And what would the version of DivX matter... and how could I get a different one?

AGK doesn't like new versions of divx, and the author can't be bothered supporting it since xvid is better. i say good reason.

try an old version 6.1.x or do away with it completely, then reboot to see if it solves the problem

I got 6.1.1.3 Create Bundle, gives same error. And this is just in VDub/Mod. Not in AutoGK.

And it happens on like any file! Even the .DIVX file that DivX create gave me does that.

            --EDIT--

I used DivX Create on the AVI, made a .divx, it opened in VDubMod and saved to AVI with DivX. But the .divx is not the same quality as DivX on 100% quality mode, as it didn't let me use quantizer... it's a simple program.

Other than that, like no files work.. even VOBs which I have encoded tons of times... they just stopped working.

This seems like a similar problem... as they were trying to encode a DVD too.

But it happens on AVIs as well for me.

                vdub faq says this:

                1. You are trying to compress a video in a format that is not supported by the codec. This will usually mean that the frame height and width are incorrect or that the color depth is not valid. To see what restrictions there are for a codec go to video-->compression and select the codec. The codec restrictions will now appear in a box right of the middle in this window.

                2. It happens when trying to play the file in VirtualDub. This is the result of a codec that is trying to decompress a video stream, which it actually cannot handle. This shouldn't be happening, but there are a few codecs (e.g. Panasonic DV) that will try to decompress anything they can get their hands on. Check the file info in VirtualDub and look up the codec used for decompression. Then uninstall/disable this codec and open the file again and see if it plays. It might be possible that with opening the file you will get another type of error message, which will be dealt with now.

                3. This error is also common with DivX and can have two main possible causes for it. First of all, it is recommended that in the advanced setting of the DivX config, you disable "Do not prompt with errors and warnings". Why this setting is not disabled by default I don't know, complain to DivX about it. If you now start your encode again an error message will appear. Usually there are problems with the logfile or the dimensions of your video are not correct. With DivX hardware profiles enabled, there are maximum resolutions you can encode with (e.g. 720x576 is the maximum res for the Home Theatre profile). It could also be that you have issues as described at number 1.
could be 2 or 3. can you check vdub's file info after you get the error? what if you uninstall AGK? if you uninstall divx? maybe messed up vfw

I uninstalled both DivX and AGK, then installed Divx. Still there.

OK, it's not 2 as it plays in VDub fine. I can try 3.

Where is VDub's logfile or whatever?

drf you have a habit of ignoring important questions

can you check vdub's file info after you get the error?
                      post file info

could be messed up vfw. odd since things should go back to normal after uninstall (sure you removed everything?). http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...076#post303076

                      another thread regarding this http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=111129

but the issue hasn't really been solved from what i can see, my advice is to dump divx and use xvid, or system restore & use something other than AGK

Hmm system restore might work... I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled anything with "DivX" in the name, and AutoGK.
