WinDVD 5 platinum messes up WMP10 avi playback

i have wmp 10 and i can play all my mpg and avi files. but once i install windvd 5 platinum, wmp 10 will not play avi files. if i uninstall windvd 5 then wmp will play the avi file like nothing ever happened. does anyone know of a fix for this. i am running winxp sp2. thank you...gino

not sure what filters windvd comes with, but you could either:

1. not install windvd, and use something better like media player classic or VLC, or

2. install windvd, then download & install ffdshow from http://www.x264.nl
