Does anyone know what DIB Codec is?

    OS-Win98SE
Does anyone know what DIB Codec is?
I installed WinMPG Video Convert 6.5.1 and I tried to convert my first avi file and an Info message came up and said Can not find DIB codec, please download this codecs!

I used GSpot to analyze the AVI File and here are the results to the avi file in question:
1.This is a valid AVI file.
The file's length is consistent with information embedded within the file, so it's fairly safe to assume that this file is complete - i.e. the file has not been truncated or otherwise damaged.

2.This video is not compressed, or is compressed using a very simple method. As such, there is no 'codec' required to play it; all of the necessary software is already 'built in to' the O/S
The video for this file should play fine. Check the audio section for audio codec information.

    3.Audio Format:
    Code: PCM Audio
This audio is not compressed, or is compressed using a very simple method. As such, there is no 'codec' required to play it; all or the necessary software is already 'built in to' the O/S
The audio for this file should play fine.

4.DirectShow was unable to render the file. Following is the error it reported:
    0x80040154: [unknown]

Number 4. is the same error message I get when trying to play it on Windows Media Player 80040154.

VLC? Must be a new video player. Kool thats really not the problem. My PC wont play it and my stand alone DVD players wont play it either. I need to find a recoder or encoder to rebuild it but I can't find one that recognizes the type of avi file it is. If I could convert it to mpg or wmv or anything I'd be happy.

VLC will determine whether the file is playable or not

If I could convert it to mpg or wmv or anything I'd be happy.
it can do that for you

Ok I got VLC and it would only play the Audio part not the Video Part What up with that? Is there any way to post a small portion of the video clip so someone could see for themselves?
