    Xvid ac 5.1 Problems

    All right.
I downloaded some anime off bittorrent.
Now, in the title it says it's in xvid ac 5.1 format.
However, nothing I download works to even play this. I want to convert it into a file for an AMV on Youtube.
I don't know what codec the other anime I downloaded is.
So, how would I find some way to find out the codec needed
I downloaded a .mkv player but that doesn't play either. It just gives me the "Windows Classic Media Player" and that won't play...
How would I get these into a file that I could crop?
    Thanks for any feedback.

guessing you mean an avi file? for startes try extracting streams with mkvextractGUI and mux with avi-mux GUI

download & install ffdshow & haali's media splitter (aka matroska splitter) from http://www.x264.nl

Thanks, but it still won't play when I opened it with the Classic Media Player. Instead, it said it couldn't recognize the file type, and the message was from the splitter application...

sounds like a fake file; delete it and move on
