i'm sure most of you guys heard of the VLC player already - but for those who don't, well...

it plays almost any format (except real media formats) and has great effects as well. use that for playback of any divx/xvid, mpeg, wmv, etc. just google it - it's free and very idiot-proof. cheers ^_^

Don't forget mplayer, plays basically everything that VLC does as well as real media, windows media, vp5/6/7, etc. Also uses less resources than VLC.
