    Constant flickering/sound problems..

Anyone, please help!! I'm having an annoying problem with XivD playback that I just can't seem to overcome. Everytime I try to play any XivD movie in _any_ player, the image keeps flickering as if the refresh rate of the movie was all screwed up. It even trashes a frame of the entire screen once in a while, even if not in fullscreen mode. The only player wich managed to display a clean image was Vidomi, but then the sound disappears completely.

I've searched the entire web, browsed every single forum, asked Google in thousands of ways, and I could only find a handful of people with the same problem, but none of their threads have any answer. And for what I've read, they often solve the problem by reinstalling the codecs but after some time it begins happening again. As for me, I've reinstalled every possible codec and filter in every possible sequence, and still got nowhere.

I've tried all different XivD Builds, FFdshow, Nimo Packs, separate installs of every codec, and nothing changed. I've updated everything in my computer, the Video Card driver, WMP, DirectX, and it still won't work.

Sometimes the same problem happens when I try to view streaming WMP media, even tough I have all the lateste M$ codecs. What can POSSIBLY be missing?!

I'm getting desperate, I've more than 3 GB of XivD downloaded that are simply unwatchable!! Will someone PLEASE help me before I snap and throw my PC out of the window.

    My specs:
    Processor: Pentium III 800Mhz EB
    MB: ASUS TUSL2-C
    384 MB SDRAM pc133
    nVIDIA RIVATNT2 M64 32Mb RAM w/ latest drivers
WinXP SP1 w/ every possible update
    Windows Media Player 9
    Directx9
    all the latest codecs

Once again, please help me!! I don't wanna think this XivD Codec is the buggiest I've ever used and a complete worthless sh*t.

I have the exact same problem. Except, I can play most xvid-movies. Some are impossible though. It will be flickering constantly, while sound is fine in most players. Like, the entire image is bouncing back and forth (30 pixels to the left, then 30 pixels back again, then a black screen) between every frame.. In the players where the image is good, the sound is flickering/not there at all. I have all codecs I should possibly need too, and use VLC for the most but I've also tried Windows Media Players, Windows Media Player Classic and numerous of "xvid-players" without any luck..

    Help! :/

    welcome to the forum

your problems differ, the person in the quote seems to have a codec problem. your issue at first glance sounds like a problem with the actual files. VLC should be perfectly capable of playing any proper xvid encode

In the players where the image is good,
    which players?
