    resident evil divx

i recently downloaded the divx version of resident evil. but when i try to play it in wmp it says: no combination of filters could be found to render the stream. ive downloaded a couple of codecs and filters but it still dont play. but the movie works in the preview part in properties. what else is there to do to make it work in wmp?

In order to determine which codec you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

    1) Load the file into VirtualDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

It looks like it may be a partially corrupt file, since it contains no audio frames...

          Back up the file.

Virtualdub or Divfix might fix the corrupt file, so it may be playable. But it has no audio frames...quite strange. Anyways, just a try.

              You're welcome

Divfix can be quite a handy tool.
