    WinXP Playback rendering

I am wondering if this is a new problem or is it just my sys.

Specs: Pentium 733/ nVidia Lanta/256Mb/Sb128 and XP
when i try to playback in ANY player the rendering of the movies seems blocky, sort of like I can see the actual pixel and it doesnt seem to be rendered properly despite that it has been rendered through the direct X.
I NEVER had this problem b4(Win98SE) so im not sure what the actual prob is.
I noticed that after I installed DivXG400 it seems to fix the prob to some extent but not as smooth as in Win98SE.

Can anyone suggest a patch or something in the similar to rectify this prob. thanx.

Try updating to the latest DirectX, if you haven't done so. You should also upgrade your VGA card driver to the latest, which is Detonator v.28.32.

Also, having tried out a lot of players, have you done the same with different video files?

Well, I reinstall back 98 to pinpoint exactly the difference. I Noticed that if I install Divx5 it will automatically use that codec to play ALL divx movies be it 3.11f/s or 4> . XP already come with directX8.1 so no need to upgrade from there. Plus I already checked with microsoft and XP has the latest DirectX. So in conclusion I can only pinpoint to the problem with the rendering system or AVI Renderer. The problem is not so severe after I uninstall Divx5.0 and use back 3.11a to playback the movies. Despite, Im not sure is there different overlay/rendering engines out there? I checked with my friends computer who has a g2 card and bcso he has a 17" mon its hard to tell any diff but my monitor is 19" so it can get pretty obvious. I even try playing around with different detonators. I'm not sure if im the only one with this prob but after installing 2832 when trying to go to properties in Media Player 6.4 the computer hangs. so I return back to 2183 (no prob there). I try playing around with YUV/Overlay/Oversize config in RADLIGHT R5 player. not much came out of it. SO in a way I just live with it. The most obvious is when I play a low res movie like 320x240 in full screen. 640x480/538x318 is ok.
