    tag 0073 ?

I cannot get audio from some divx files ?

When I used virtualdub it tells me that the
    compression is "unknown (tag 0073)"

Anyone know what codec I need and where
    I can get it ?

I have used both 4.1.2 and 5.01 (I am running
    windows XP)

    Thanks.

    That's the L&H SBC 16bit mono codec...

You don't really have a video with such an encoded audiostream, do you?

obviously I do have some video files with this encoding, not
that I knew that before I downloaded them
      Even virtualdub can't handle them

Do you know where I can get this codec from ?

      Thanks,
      Robin.

I believe that this codec is one of the "standards" that's installed as part of the Win98 installation.

If you can't find it on a Win98 installation disk, simply perform a Google search...

          Unfortunately I don't have a windows 98 cd
and I have searched everywhere for this
codec but all I get is lots of info about
the codec and about L&H but not the codec
          itself
I have also looked in the tsunami and nimo
          packs but it's not there.
Does anyone have this codec ?
Also, is there any installation instructions
or do I just put it in my windows/system
          directory ?

          Thanks,
          Robin.

            Go to:

and download the Windows Media Player codecs package...

I managed to get hold of lhacm.acm and copied it into
my windows\system32 directory but when I look at
the list of codecs (via control panel) it is not there.

How do I make windoze know of it's existence ?

              Thanks,
              Robin.

                1) It belongs in your Windows\System directory (NOT System32)

                2) After putting it in the proper directory, reboot your system. Check in Control Panel>>Multimedia>> Devices>>Audio Compression Codecs. If it's not listed type the following in a DOS window, or create a batch file (Don't type quotation marks):

                "c:\windows\system\regsvr32 lhacm.acm"

Again, a reboot is then necessary.

                Let us know of your success ;>}

I tried your suggestion but I got the following message:

c:\windows\system\lhacm.acm was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found

lhacm.acm does not appear to be a .DLL or .OCX file.

Am I missing something here ?
BTW, this is a new pc running windows XP so things may be different.

                  Thanks,
                  Robin.
