    Downsizing a video's filesize?

How are you guys doing today?
I'm having trouble uploading this movie to "YouTube", because the size of the movie file is too big. I was wondering what I would have to do to make the size a little bit smaller. Right now it's 151 MB, so I need to knock off about 50 MB..
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!!!

And incase this is posted in the wrong section, please move it.

    welcome to the forum

a quick visit to youtube shows there is also a 10 min length limit and preferred 320x240 res in addition to the 150 mb filesize. ensure it meets the other criteria as well.

guessing the file is an avi-- try something like AutoGK, specify your output file size and it'll adjust bitrate accordingly

I think the video file is called MPEG-2. But the file is has an extension called .VOB. The resolution isn't 320x240. Maybe if I make the resolution smaller, the filesize would go down if there's a way for that.

AutoGK can handle that too. resolution has no effect on file size, it's primarily a/v bitrate & length

that's a big sucker to host. my preference is virtualdubmod>compress with xvid or divx to avi.

              Making a DVD

              Hi There,

Can anyone please help me? I have spent countless hours trying to make a dvd from a file that I have downloaded from Ares. I have the file in My Documents and I am trying to use DVDshrink3.2 to make a copy of the file so that we can watch the movie on our tv.

I am a complete IT Luddite, I've downloaded DVDshrink for Dummies but the whole thing beats me.

I simply want to know how I put a downloaded movie file from Ares on a DVD.

I would be so grateful if someone could tell how to do this in bog standard english.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

              friendo

                  Hi There Columbo,

I think the file is an .avi. Sorry to be so vague but I don't understand anything about file or computers come to mention it. In the library section of Ares it has the name of the filmas follows:" wedding crashers (2005_dvdrip_eng.) .avi

                  Many thanks.

I regret to inform you friendo, we can't offer you advice on such a file (pirated material). To avoid further infractions, please read the forum rules (#6 in this case)

Sorry to bring this back up so late, but I'm running into the same problem, except now it's with a different file format. This file is a .mov and it won't work with either AutoGK or VirtualDub. Is there a program that will let me do what I've been trying to do earlier, but with the .mov file?
