    DivX Standalone Player

I know it is a long shot to ask this but I wanted to see if anybody knows about any stand-alone DVD players that support DivX formats. Conversion to MPEG seems to take away from the qualty and it takes 2 cds.

If the answer to that is no, then I wonder if there is a way to "hack" a DVD player to support it. I'm sure there is a way to do it on a PS2 (there are MOD chips to make it play VCDs so i don't see why not DivXs).

If anyone can provide help with these, I would greatly appreciate it. As for the MOD chip issue, I guess I should research that myself a little!!

No, but they are comming, exactly when is hard to say, I would guess it'll propably be between 3 and 6 months. And then there is the question of which formats will be supported, this is also completly unknown, but divx3.11 support seems unlikely.

but the dreamcast can play divx. All you need to do is download an app from the internet. Burn it on to cd. Use it as the start up disk. Then there u go. However it does have res and bitrate limitations. There should be a newer version coming out allowing higher bitrate and res.
