AVI file Is Distorted After Combining

i combined 2 halfs of a movie into one avi file using avijoiner. both files played fine but after i combined them, the picture is all distorted and just garbled. it is a divx/xvid avi file. i deleted the two files before i checked the one combined file so now i can't go back. i have tried numerous things to try and get the video back to normal like avifixed, fourcc code changer, etc but can't find a way. if anyone has any suggestions please fell free.
