8cm dvd -rw plays on pc but not on dvd player?

hi, i got a 8cm dvd-rw disc from a video cam that has been finalised .
it plays on my pc and shows up as dvd-rom?
when i click on the folder in my computer on the drive it does'nt show any files!
whats going on?
also it does'nt play in my dvd player?
help!
is there anyway of converting it so it will play on a dvd player?
using free software!

We are having exactly the same problem with our Panasonic D300. If we record in DVD-VR mode, we can view the videos through the camera attached to the computer, but the PC's DVD drive does not recognise the disc, but Nero Vision 7 will import the video as long as the disc has not been finalised.

If we record an 8 cm disc in DVD-Video format, it is not recognised by the PC, Nero Vision, nor our stand-alone players, but we can save the files to a folder on our PC (using the option in the camera - so the camera is attached to the PC, and the 8 cm disc is in the camera, not the PC), and then use them from there.
