    Can I convert

I've downloaded some sports events in .mpg format which are pixylated? and are useless when I try to play them on WMP10.
If I put them thru a video converter eg mpg to avi/divx will that re code them so I can play them and put them on a dvd.

I have SkyStar2 pci card in the PC and use progDVB and their Elecard Video Decoder, but I reinstalled the new version of progDVB and didnt know I had to reinstall the Elecard to the new version and then activate it. The bad vids are a result of that.

The videos were not properly encoded.
Can they be recoded or recovered either using a converter or some other way.

These few are part of a ski seasons record, if I have to dump these I may as well scrap the full seasons videos.

If the info isn't in there now there isn't much you can do about it. You might try a different player such as VLC or a different MPEG decoder like FFDShow with Media Player Classic. FFDShow has a bunch of filters including de-blocking.

Try running one of the affected mpg files through ProjectX. If the pixellation exists in the demuxed stream, it cannot be recovered.

Try VideoReDo, it will salvage what it can of the video.

Run ProjectX, add the file, hit prepare then play.
