    codec problem

Now, I have a question: I have a quicktime video that I converted to an avi, but I can't play the avi. It says I require codecs. I have already upgrade my divx and my xvid, I can't tell what version I have of xvid. When I pull it up in my start menu, I just get a list of stuff but no xvid file itself. I want to know how to play this avi and what do I do???? Please help. Thanks.

You do not state what methods you used to encode/mux to avi, but chances are you need either Quicktime Alternative or a recent ffdshow build. Try the latter first.
