try to size the display(tv or monitor) for the size of the area it's viewed from

whether it's a desk or a great room

a $5000 one looks like crap from too close

that 32 inch would be great if you are viewing from 8-12 feet away

I don't think the X300 has HDCP DVI output. It "supports" it in the GPU, but practically no card manufacturers actually put in support for HDCP until recently (HDCP key ROM weren't implemented). Without HDCP enabled DVI output, you won't get full res HD DVD/Blu-ray playback. You don't need a card with HDMI (although it would be nice if the TV has HDMI), since HDMI is backwards compatible with DVI and you can just plug the DVI into HDMI using the appropriate cable or adapter (no sound though).

Here's a list/review of HDCP enabled cards from a few months back:

The PC (RGB) input is just a VGA input, going by the manual for the Samsung HPS5053. You really need to check out what resolution/refresh rates the TV accepts, because most likely, it won't support as many input formats as your typical computer monitor. Typical resolutions like 1024x768, 1280x720/768 will be supported, at various refresh rates (see the attached table for the rates supported by the Samsung HPS5053).

Some TVs have more than one HDMI input. The more the better, in my opinion, because almost everything will need it or can use it (PS3, Blu-ray/HD DVD player, HTPC, DVD recorder ...). The more component connections the better too - have a look at the attached image for the back of the Samsung HPS5053 to see what a HDMI connector looks like (note that one is called "HDMI 1/DVI IN", and then there is "DVI IN" audio connection - this most likely means that you would use this port for DVI connections and then plug in the audio cable, the "HDMI 2" port only supports digital audio through the HDMI cable, so you can't have sound with DVI if connected to "HDMI 2").

It's always good to check the manual of the TV you want to buy before buying - they are almost always available on the official website for download. This way, you can play your connections ahead of time.

I bought a 42" Samsung LCD recently model 4041. It looks great to me. I paid 1075 at B & H photo plus shipping. They are reputable. Check it out.
