Hello,
The company for which I work recently produced a 15-min video in HD. Editing was also done in the DVCPRO HD format. Our end product will be replicated SD DVDs. What is the best way to encode the video project in order to maintain the best qaulity? There will be some loss of quality--going from high def to standard def--but we'd like to try and keep this to a minimum.
Right now we are considering down converting the HD video via our Final Cut Pro station by recording onto an uncompressed SD master tape (Sony D1). Then having that master tape encoded at a facility that uses a hardware based encoder. Is this the best workflow for creating high end MPEG-2 for SD DVDs?
We will use Apple DVDSP to author the DVD. We also have Apple's Compressor, but not sure if it is capable of creating better quality MPEG2 files than we can receive from another facility that uses a Sonic SD 2000.
Thanks for any suggestions in regards to compressing video for DVD.
