Cannot Open AVI file (VFW codec required, not DirectShow)

    Hello everyone,
I have been looking for hours on a way to fix this. I had recently downloaded video tracking software here: http://swis.epfl.ch/research/swistrack/

When I tried to run it with any avi file I get the error:
Input: Can not open AVI file (codec problem, VFW required, not DirectShow)

I have tried looking everywhere for a fix, downloading tons of codec files from xvid and divx to random packages. I have downloaded VideoInspector and it says I require DIB (full frames) codecs. I looked everywhere for this codec but it is elusive!

Can anyone help me out? You are welcome to download the video tracking software and see if you get the same errors on their example avi file. The avi plays fine in other players, just not in the tracking software.

    Thanks!

I have installed both and they did not help. Try installing the software and seeing if you get the same error. Thanks for the help though.
