    advice

Will a Canon ZR600 work with windows vista? I have Movie Maker, do I need new software? I have USB, do I need Firewire? Dell tech. support said no to the second one. In any case I'm doing everything I can and still get the "cannot find compatible device" message. Can someone help me?

The best thing to do is contact or get on the canon web site to see if it is compatible. Odds are it is possibly not.

      Thank you

Just wanted to say thanks for the response. Soon after the post I finally just went and bought the firewire card and cable and found out that it was all I needed. So apparently it is compatible. I was just confused because Dell tech support told me I should be able to do it with USB, but that's what I was using when I was getting the error messages.

usb usually does the pictures from the memory card

page 79 of the manual specifies dv/1394 for transfer of video to computer

The ZR600 will work with Windows Vista. And you need to use the firewire.
          You raise the blade,
          You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
          the key,
          There's someone in my head
          and it's not me.
