    Back to front

I have had this with a few XVID files. When I play the file on my DIVX player through my surround sound (using pro logic II as it is only 2 channel) the sound come out clear through the back speakers and the front speaker are very low and distorted. When I play in on my DIVX play up in the bedroom on the cheap TV all I get is the Low distorted sound wheres as my TV downstairs plays the sound fine and clear.

If I save the sound as a WAV file and convert it to MONO in Virtual dub all I get is the distorted version.

Has anyone come across this before and is there any way of fixing this.

    Thanks in advance

PS. I love a clear, well laid out site like this. Well done.

How does the file sound on your computer? What kind of audio does the XviD file use? MP3? AC3?

a stereo avi with channels switched does this,
if you can disconnect either left or right channel on the output to the mono tv playback and hear the sound?

I am connected through a basic scart lead. I suspect the TV upstairs (being cheap and nasty possibly mono) is only picking up the one channel. I will plug the DVD player in the TV downstairs. If the sound is alright on that then it is the TV otherwise it is the DVD player.

I will try converting the audio in Virtual Dub and selecting either Left or Right and see if that fixes it.
